Our very own Liss (fiance to our very own Matthew) has begun her very own blog named, Patience Creations and is making these extremely cool vintage purses made from old book covers/pages, and she has begun jewelry making also.You can check out her blog right here.

We had lots of fun thrifting at the local shops here in Beaufort, I have now added books and handles to the thrifty things that I search for, for Liss.

A few days after Matthew left for Federal Agent Academy, Liss was in a car accident and is more interested at the moment in trips to the chiropractor and doctors, and being pain free~ Get well Liss, especially since you are the Birthday girl tomorrow.xoxox

Thrifting For Plant Pots

Hey buddies,
I am running out the door to get some groceries before Matthew arrives, but Mum mentioned that  she is tired of seeing my beloved cactus so I will share my latest antique mall/thrift store finds.
there is the best antique mall here on the  island, where I have been  getting my plant pots.
This yellow beauty cost me all  of  $2.00 and I will plant more succulents in  it.

These  enamelware pots found  in  a half price box, which had  a rust spot or two, were perfect for plants  especially when I made some more holes in the bottom for drainage.
I always check the Goodwill  shops first, not only do they have mark down  days, but you are shopping for a good cause:)

What's Old Is New Again

Hey buddies,

No time for chit chat tonight, how rude huh?xo I just noticed the time and I have to get Hope to bed and get back to "work."

It was dreary and I still had lots of motivation to create. Must be the sugar rush from left over Halloween candy:)

Here is the fellow I created from the vintage shaving brush. I added red color but kept alot of the original vintage patina.He will either be for sale tomorrow on ebay or etsy. I'll keep you posted never fear;)

A Birthday Recap

Happy Sunday buddies

Wow, how last week got completely away from me. It's strange how some weeks semi slowly go by and everything gets accomplished, and others are just a flash and you think how did that happen? Maybe it's because I am another year older as of Friday.

My friend Cindy and her cute little girl Allison took me to a Birthday breakfast and shopping on Thursday, so much fun!!

Afterwards, I had my first pottery class in the new session. I almost didn't sign up because Christmas is coming and I should be buying presents with that money, but I decided I can make pottery presents this year, cost justified:)

am so excited to see my latest pot, I was semi whining about how all of my pieces look the same, and so as I looked at yet another chunky piece I had the idea of sculpting a little bird and sitting him on the edge. (thanks Ginny who has been telling me to try sculpting birds like my carved ones)

Speaking of pottery, check out my birthday present from Matt. He found this vintage beauty in an antique shop in Oregon, it is from the 1920's. I love it and it made his Planes Trains and Automobilesque trip back from Seattle safe and sound.

Poor Matt got on the road at 3am to make it home in time to take us out for my birthday dinner, and finally walked in the door at 9PM. He took a ferry, missed a flight and was fogged in Atlanta for 3 hours, so like the movie, without John Candy and "the pillow incident."

Luckily Michael had taken me out to a delicious Mexican lunch of chimichangas with extra guacamole, so I wasn't about to pass out with hunger.

Doll Inspiration

Hey buddies,

Did you have a good weekend? We did. Nothing terribly exciting that would make the paparazzi take notice, although not wearing makeup seems to be popular with them these days.

I wanted to share a new found plant nursery with Matt that I just discovered last week. It is wandery and overlooks the marsh and has gorgeous pots~and plants of course. I am tempted to inquire about a job there but would have no money left from my paycheck which would defeat the purpose.:)

There was a passing comment made about how all of my supplies that can't be kept in my garage studio seem to be taking over the master bedroom. (I had to agree as I had just tried to reorganize them a few weeks ago) so we bought some more shelves and I weeded out a bunch of books and magazines and finished items that I will be selling this week on my website.

Downsizing and losing a bedroom and studio really make for creative organizing, and hiding things under the bed only work for so long before they are spilling out.

While doing this overwhelming task, I got sidetracked, in true Helena fashion and started going through my sewing box that mum gave me, with Hope. Do you see that cute little doll dress that she made for one of my many dolls? It is so sweet.

It has inspired me to get out my dusty sewing machine and make some dolls this week. It's been ages.

I will also be sharing our attempt at eating vegetarian for the next 30 days. Well Matt and I are and we'll see how Michael and Hope like it. Are we faux vegetarians if we still eat fish?  I'll share some yummy recipes and hopefully some weight loss.
