My baby boy Michael went and turned 21 on us yesterday/today?
He is our Leap Year baby and we have always celebrated on the 28th vs March 1st since he was born in February not March. Confusing? ha ha
For some time now, he has been wondering how the stores and bars will view his unique birthday in relation to being legal to buy beer.
While at Walmart yesterday, we were told he isn't officially legal until today, interesting huh? (I was also told by new favorite cashier that there was no way that I was 40, and she didn't even know my age~I will visit her daily)
Anyway, Michael wanted flan for his birthday cake, since he doesn't like cake much (was he switched at birth?)
So I was determined to make a homemade flan and am happy to say Michael approved!!
Remind me and I will give you the recipe, which I can't remember after looking at so many where I got it:)
It was quite easy to make, and if you don't have 5 very loud but happy kids 2 feet away, a nosy puppy at your feet while trying to put an overfilled pan and water bath in the hot oven, you'll probably do better than I at not spilling some of it in the oven..
Before our yummy dessert, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, "La Hacienda." They have the best homemade tortilla chips and salsa that you can snack on while waiting for your food and their Chimichangas are so good!!
I just found this Chimichanga how to video here and will try to make them this week. Let me know if you make them before I do.
Well a very heavy Izzy decided to take a cat nap on my shoulder, we have a barbecue in Savannah to go to, and I am being updated every few minutes by Hope regarding our severe thunderstorm/tornado warning, so I will get going.
Happy Birthday Michael~I'm so happy that we didn't trade you in after 7 months of colic, because you have turned out to be such an amazing person.xo
Happy Sunday everyone
