Craft Shows And Carved Snowmen

Hey buddies,

Did you have a good weekend? We went to a really fun local art show at The Low Country Store, that I really wish I had exhibited at. Next year I plan to:) It had an amazing turn out.

I will be carving and painting frantically in the weeks to come since Christmas is coming fast!! I have to turn the carols up real loud, although I am definitely in the spirit.

We saw a man who looked like Santa in the store the other day and I casually said,"greenhouse please" to Hope's disbelief. ha ha it was really funny. He didn't know what I meant, unless he was the REAL Santa Claus. You never know where he may be, even in isle 4 of Beaufort's Food Lion:)

Off to walk my pup, get my girl from school and look for Santa.

Primitive Carved Santa Ornaments

Hey buddies,

Sorry I haven't been around. I am trying to gear up for the Christmas season and have been carving up a storm and listing new items on my websites. I have decided that if my sales aren't that great this year I will most likely be closing my websites. I'll still sell on Etsy, see left sidebar, and possibly eBay but the websites are just one more thing that needs updating, and I would rather be creating than juggling multiple sites.
 

I am thinking hard about selling plants on a site or two because that is my favorite thing to do these days, Our house will soon be over run with babies that I have propagated, once I have to move them in the house at night. (so happy that Matt isn't bothered by my many passions xo)
Well Hope needs help with her homework, Michael just walked in the door from school, and I need to call and say hi to Matthew at the Fed Agent Academy.

Keep checking back because I have about 20 carvings on my studio table that I need to show you.

Thrifting For Plant Pots

Hey buddies,
I am running out the door to get some groceries before Matthew arrives, but Mum mentioned that  she is tired of seeing my beloved cactus so I will share my latest antique mall/thrift store finds.
there is the best antique mall here on the  island, where I have been  getting my plant pots.
This yellow beauty cost me all  of  $2.00 and I will plant more succulents in  it.

These  enamelware pots found  in  a half price box, which had  a rust spot or two, were perfect for plants  especially when I made some more holes in the bottom for drainage.
I always check the Goodwill  shops first, not only do they have mark down  days, but you are shopping for a good cause:)

Carving Driftwood

Hey buddies,

I am off to get Hope from school but wanted to let you know that I just updated my other blog with my most recently finished pottery pieces and wanted to show you a driftwood carving that I am working on. I hadn't picked up my carving knives in some time, but it felt good between my end of year craziness, to put on my knubby glove and get back to it.

Before And After

Hey buddies,
I am in total shock of how long it has been since I have blogged on here.
If you can't find me here perhaps I can be found Here at my other blog.

I haven't picked up a carving knife in a month it seems, although I had good intentions yesterday.
Hope has had so much going on with school, awards science fairs, so many projects, and Michael just was inducted into the honor society at college last Friday. We're so proud:)

I have been gardening like crazy and still decluttering. I think we will be having a garage sale and I am putting some things on ebay to see if they sell.
I am now off to my favorite day of the week~ pottery class.
I made this platter awhile back with pressed fresh ivy in it. I was very excited to see the glazing results and then was disappointed with the brown and splotchy aqua.
With pottery you never really know what you're going to get, which is part of the fun for me.
Here are the before and after pix. I am thrilled with my big abstract bowl which unintentionally looks like a seashell and makes me like it even more. You can take a peek here.
Hopefully I will have a carving to share soon. Since I am decluttering we need to have a giveaway!!

A Spring Green Gnome

Hey buddies,

I wanted to head out and about today and get some shots of the beautiful trees and vines that are coming into bloom but the rain moved in, so I will try again tomorrow.

Take a peek here if you would like to see some pretty Azaleas that I took pix of. I need to buy some for the yard.Does anyone have any input on the reblooming variety?

So many people think because this is the south we don't have seasons, but I'm telling you spring is here and it is the same feeling of renewal that I felt up north. The bright green haze that surrounds the trees as the leaves begin to appear, the Red bud and flowering  pear,  are covered with their beautiful fragile blossoms, and the birds are singing their hearts out. We hear them year round thankfully, but now it is like a chorus when you wake in the morning.

My latest carving is painted in that bright green that reminds me of spring.
He'll be on my website in a few minutes.

Before and After Bunny

Hey buddies,

I've been so busy having fun with Matt working on redecorating projects that I FINALLY finished this little bunny today. He has been staring me down with his carved beady eyes for weeks!
I couldn't decide if I should antique him or not, but went ahead and did anyway. I wanted to show you the before antiquing step and then below it the antiqued piece. If you would give me your input I would really appreciate it.

Magnolia Leaf Bowl

Hey buddies,
 I decided to try a new pottery class and take a little break from the wheel, and so began the "Hand building session.
It was less intimidating than the wheel can be at first, and the pinch pot that we made, took us back to kindergarten days as Trevor said, and it really does (without the urge to eat paste:) ha ha
Since I had to trim my bowl from last session before it dried out too much I snuck away and went back to the wheel, I think I miss it already, but this will be a fun class and I will learn new techniques that I can use with both.

Well, I am off to put my tootsies up. I cleaned the shed and my studio and the garage today and I am pooped.

Another Touch Of Spring

Hey buddies,
Another weekend has flown by, but we still have tomorrow to enjoy, hooray.
These are the beautiful tulips that Matt gave to me for Valentines Day.
We really don't make a huge deal of Valentines Day, because we believe that you should show how much you love each other everyday, not just because the commercials and shops are telling you to. Although, decorating for it is fun and I never refuse pretty flowers:)

I am hoping that this week I will be fully better and able to finish the many projects that I have in the works.

When Thoughts Turn To Spring

I am feeling pretty cruddy but didn't want to you to think I'd forgotten about you.  I thought I would share these Easter egg ornaments/bowl fillers that I like to stitch for springy Easter decorating.
