Our very own Liss (fiance to our very own Matthew) has begun her very own blog named, Patience Creations and is making these extremely cool vintage purses made from old book covers/pages, and she has begun jewelry making also.You can check out her blog right here.

We had lots of fun thrifting at the local shops here in Beaufort, I have now added books and handles to the thrifty things that I search for, for Liss.

A few days after Matthew left for Federal Agent Academy, Liss was in a car accident and is more interested at the moment in trips to the chiropractor and doctors, and being pain free~ Get well Liss, especially since you are the Birthday girl tomorrow.xoxox

Thrifting For Plant Pots

Hey buddies,
I am running out the door to get some groceries before Matthew arrives, but Mum mentioned that  she is tired of seeing my beloved cactus so I will share my latest antique mall/thrift store finds.
there is the best antique mall here on the  island, where I have been  getting my plant pots.
This yellow beauty cost me all  of  $2.00 and I will plant more succulents in  it.

These  enamelware pots found  in  a half price box, which had  a rust spot or two, were perfect for plants  especially when I made some more holes in the bottom for drainage.
I always check the Goodwill  shops first, not only do they have mark down  days, but you are shopping for a good cause:)

Goodies In the Mail

Hey buddies,

Don't ya just love going to the mailbox and finding goodies in the mail?
Today was an extra good mail day. Not only did I get a letter from my long time pen pal Heida, but she sent me fudge too!! Fudge is most definitely one of my favorite food groups.I had to try a piece so I could tell you how good it is. Thanks Heida:)

Heida and I met in 1988 when our husbands were both stationed at Andrews Air Force Base.(Hi Jack)
They later moved back to Massachusetts and we continued on with our Marine Corps travels but give or take a few lulls, we have kept intouch via letter writing all of these years. What's extra special is now Hope and Heida's youngest daughter Cassie are penpals, so cute.

I love hand written letters and have kept all of Matt's that he has written to me while dating, during Desert Storm and all of his many training excursions.

Not to out do my delicious fudge, but I also got some antique wooden insulators that I am going to try carving. I can carve and eat fudge until my heart is content. Well, I must get going because Matt is taking me somewhere special tonight. I will have my trusty camera, and perhaps my fudge along for the adventure and will share pictures tomorrow.

I'm Baaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,
I just can't contain myself with relief and joy. You would think that I had won the lottery but oh so close I am back online. Ok that is really sad, but the best selling time of year and I saw 2-3 weeks come and go?
All I can say is I love Mike the I.T. guy and of course Matt also:) thank you thank you!
I have been asked what I have been creating with so much time away from the distractions of said computer, and I must say that I really have been enjoying the puppy, our cute little ball of fluff named "Teddy". I have also been crazy busy with Hope's school and all of the activities they decided to cram into last week.
Sad that our dear neighbors Joe, Allison and Jocelyn are moving on to new Marine type things. We wish them all the best and will never forget them, not that we will lose touch. Having amazing neighbors is a true blessing. I am also on stand by because our other neighbor Julie is about to give birth at any minute, so much going on in just a couple of weeks.
Not that I haven't been creating, There is a carved tree wizard, some birds, a fish and more shaving brush santas, not to mention pottery, my new found love.
But oh that puppy and our hourly trips outside and in the night keep me quite busy  he is just the sweetest thing and he and Izzy have become fast friends.
Big congrats to Matthew on his new job, although he won't be coming home for Thanksgiving and the yearly Christmas photo, we will miss he and Liss being with us very much, but I can't whine too much because he is safely home from Iraq.xoxox
Tomorrow I will be listing on ebay and within the next few days an Etsy update.
I will be updating my Helena C Studios blog with pottery, coastally Christmas decorating ideas, and ofcourse some puppy pix.
 I've missed blabbling to you all, can you tell?

What's Old Is New Again

Hey buddies,

No time for chit chat tonight, how rude huh?xo I just noticed the time and I have to get Hope to bed and get back to "work."

It was dreary and I still had lots of motivation to create. Must be the sugar rush from left over Halloween candy:)

Here is the fellow I created from the vintage shaving brush. I added red color but kept alot of the original vintage patina.He will either be for sale tomorrow on ebay or etsy. I'll keep you posted never fear;)

A Birthday Recap

Happy Sunday buddies

Wow, how last week got completely away from me. It's strange how some weeks semi slowly go by and everything gets accomplished, and others are just a flash and you think how did that happen? Maybe it's because I am another year older as of Friday.

My friend Cindy and her cute little girl Allison took me to a Birthday breakfast and shopping on Thursday, so much fun!!

Afterwards, I had my first pottery class in the new session. I almost didn't sign up because Christmas is coming and I should be buying presents with that money, but I decided I can make pottery presents this year, cost justified:)

am so excited to see my latest pot, I was semi whining about how all of my pieces look the same, and so as I looked at yet another chunky piece I had the idea of sculpting a little bird and sitting him on the edge. (thanks Ginny who has been telling me to try sculpting birds like my carved ones)

Speaking of pottery, check out my birthday present from Matt. He found this vintage beauty in an antique shop in Oregon, it is from the 1920's. I love it and it made his Planes Trains and Automobilesque trip back from Seattle safe and sound.

Poor Matt got on the road at 3am to make it home in time to take us out for my birthday dinner, and finally walked in the door at 9PM. He took a ferry, missed a flight and was fogged in Atlanta for 3 hours, so like the movie, without John Candy and "the pillow incident."

Luckily Michael had taken me out to a delicious Mexican lunch of chimichangas with extra guacamole, so I wasn't about to pass out with hunger.

Antique Organizers and Uncle Sam

Hey everyone,

We are headed out to play in the pool and then to go fishing at the beach but I wanted to hop on and show you my little Uncle Sam carving that is for sale HERE.

He is carved fully round from basswood and is looking rather patriotic as Uncle Sam is known to do :)

As I was working on my studio I tried a new item for my eternal task of attempting to be organized. Here I turned an antique Coke crate that I discovered in Maine, on it's side for my little carvings and mini paintings that are waiting on some finishing touches.

It is working out wonderfully as long as the wild and crazy kitten doesn't knock it over:)
