Thrifting For Plant Pots

Blog yellow planter Hey buddies,
I am running out the door to get some groceries before Matthew arrives, but Mum mentioned that  she is tired of seeing my beloved cactus so I will share my latest antique mall/thrift store finds.
there is the best antique mall here on the  island, where I have been  getting my plant pots.
This yellow beauty cost me all  of  $2.00 and I will plant more succulents in  it.
Blog enamelware Blog tin planter
These  enamelware pots found  in  a half price box, which had  a rust spot or two, were perfect for plants  especially when I made some more holes in the bottom for drainage.
I always check the Goodwill  shops first, not only do they have mark down  days, but you are shopping for a good cause:)
Have a great day,
Hugs

Blooming Cacti

Blog cactus flower Hey buddies,
I am running out the door to pottery class but wanted to show my latest gardening endeavor.
I have just gotten  into cacti, and begged Matt while taking a walk near  here, to get me a clipping from a huge cactus. We weren't sure if it would take, but the next day this is what I discovered.Blog cactus flower 2
Now  of course I want to dig up the rest of the 6ft wide cactus, but considering the inch long spines don't think I can pursuade Matt to help.
Have a great day,

Carving Driftwood

Blog driftwood dude
Hey buddies,

I am off to get Hope from school but wanted to let you know that I just updated my other blog with my most recently finished pottery pieces and wanted to show you a driftwood carving that I am working on. I hadn't picked up my carving knives in some time, but it felt good between my end of year craziness, to put on my knubby glove and get back to it.
Have a happy Thursday.

Primitive Pottery Bowl

Blog speckled leaf bowl Hey buddies,

I've been updating alot more over at my cottagy blog because what I seem to be making these days fits more into that style.  Be sure to check back and forth because my carving knives have been sharpened, and I am cleaning out my studio and will be listing things in the days to come.
Carvings, dolls, and lots of supplies.
If you are looking for something in particular let me know because I may have it.
Ebay isn't working for me lately so I am really going to focus on Etsy, and give that a go.
As I was saying, I am really on a cottagy creative roll but with pottery ya never know what you're gonna get (I always hear Forest Gump's voice when I say that:)
This pastel unfired bowl is the primitive speckled bowl at the top of this post after it was fired~crazy!!Blog unfired primitive bowl
OK better go get dinner.
Have a great night!

Before And After

Blog ivy platter close up Hey buddies,
I am in total shock of how long it has been since I have blogged on here.
If you can't find me here perhaps I can be found Here at my other blog.

I haven't picked up a carving knife in a month it seems, although I had good intentions yesterday.
Hope has had so much going on with school, awards science fairs, so many projects, and Michael just was inducted into the honor society at college last Friday. We're so proud:)

I have been gardening like crazy and still decluttering. I think we will be having a garage sale and I am putting some things on ebay to see if they sell.
I am now off to my favorite day of the week~ pottery class.
I made this platter awhile back with pressed fresh ivy in it. I was very excited to see the glazing results and then was disappointed with the brown and splotchy aqua.
With pottery you never really know what you're going to get, which is part of the fun for me.
Here are the before and after pix.Blog ivy platter Blog glazed ivy platter I am thrilled with my big abstract bowl which unintentionally looks like a seashell and makes me like it even more. You can take a peek here.
Hopefully I will have a carving to share soon. Since I am decluttering we need to have a giveaway!!
Details soon.
Have a great day!
Hugs

Cheesecake Supreme Recipe

Blog cheesecake Hey Buddies,
Sorry that I haven't been around. Mum is still here and we are busy chatting, and shopping and gardening etc etc.
I just wanted to hop on and give you the cheesecake recipe that I made this year as well as last.
I was busy chatting to my sister on the phone and just this second realized that I forgot to cook the  sour cream topping step. It was delicious anyway, I  will have to take a vote and see which way the family prefers. Off to try and figure it out lol.

*Cheesecake Supreme*

(dieters beware:)

1 8oz pkg cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1tbs lemon juice ( I was out and used lime~yummy)

1/4 tsp vanilla

dash of salt

2 eggs

1~ 9 inch graham cracker pie crust

1 cup sour cream

2tbs vanilla

Combine cream cheese, sugar, lemon  juice, vanilla and salt, mixing till well blended.

Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition.

Place crust on baking sheet, pour in filling and bake at 325 degrees 35-40 mins. or untill knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Combine sour cream, sugar and vanilla and carefully spread over pie. Continue baking 10 mins.  cool and then chill and top with fruit. (I used strawberries)

Most important note: don't blame me if you can't button your pants the next day:) lol
