Carved Valentines Day Gnome

Hey buddies,

I'm baaack:)

2010 has gotten crazy, but I am so thankful that we are a family of 5 once again, at least for the time being, and I'm not letting a minute go to waste.

In between creating and trips to the Physical Therapist, I promise I'll be here at least weekly. To make up for my disappearing act I have a carved bird giveaway on my Helena C studios blog.

Primitive Palm Tree Claus

Hey buddies,

Wow I didn't realize how long it's been.

I wait all year for the Christmas season and it goes by so scary fast.

First I wanted to show you my Santa that I carved from Palm tree wood right from the wild Sable Palm in our front yard. Matt who thinks I am a hoarder took my stash of palm fronds (of course I can't just collect 5 but who's counting really?) and Matt threw them on the burn pile hoping I wouldn't notice!!!

I ALWAYS notice!! One time when we lived in Hamburg, NY and had large garbage pickup, Matt thought he would sneak some of my wonderful weathered wood into the garbage pile to be picked up. Of course I noticed immediately and just as he would bring them down the driveway, I would take them back through the house into the basement. ha ha we still laugh about that.

So here is my latest Santa, he was really fun to carve.

We have been having lots of Christmas fun. Cutting down our Christmas tree.

And last but not least, Matt and Hope decorated the house with lights,great job huh?

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey buddies,

Hope you had a wonderful day. We really did.

A big thanks for Matt for really stepping up this year with dinner. I am the proud owner of 7 stitches in my thumb. Beware of tin cans.

Actually it's my carving hand and It has been very frustrating for me, but I am thankful that in a few days (perhaps I'll try tomorrow) I'll be carving again:)

Since it's Black Friday and Cyber Monday I am offering free shipping for all of the items in my Etsy shop until Monday at midnight.

I am off to work on the tree that I just dragged out on the back porch.

Carved Vintage Spools and Rolling Pin Santas

Hey buddies,

I have minutes before I run and get Hope from school but wanted to share my latest carvings. I am a carving fool, and my flower beds are paying the price.Weeds need their turn in the sun too, right?

This guy is 5" tall and I will be making as many as I can find time too. he is listed at my Etsy shop.

Happy Veterans Day

Craft Shows And Carved Snowmen

Hey buddies,

Did you have a good weekend? We went to a really fun local art show at The Low Country Store, that I really wish I had exhibited at. Next year I plan to:) It had an amazing turn out.

I listed some of my little carved snowmen and another carved spool ornament at my Etsy shop. If you would like to take a peek click on the side bar at the left, or right here.

I will be carving and painting frantically in the weeks to come since Christmas is coming fast!! I have to turn the carols up real loud, although I am definitely in the spirit.

We saw a man who looked like Santa in the store the other day and I casually said,"greenhouse please" to Hope's disbelief. ha ha it was really funny. He didn't know what I meant, unless he was the REAL Santa Claus. You never know where he may be, even in isle 4 of Beaufort's Food Lion:)

Off to walk my pup, get my girl from school and look for Santa.

Primitive Carved Santa Ornaments

Hey buddies,

Sorry I haven't been around. I am trying to gear up for the Christmas season and have been carving up a storm and listing new items on my websites. I have decided that if my sales aren't that great this year I will most likely be closing my websites. I'll still sell on Etsy, see left sidebar, and possibly eBay but the websites are just one more thing that needs updating, and I would rather be creating than juggling multiple sites.
 

I am thinking hard about selling plants on a site or two because that is my favorite thing to do these days, Our house will soon be over run with babies that I have propagated, once I have to move them in the house at night. (so happy that Matt isn't bothered by my many passions xo)
Well Hope needs help with her homework, Michael just walked in the door from school, and I need to call and say hi to Matthew at the Fed Agent Academy.

Keep checking back because I have about 20 carvings on my studio table that I need to show you.

Vintage Book Purses

Our very own Liss (fiance to our very own Matthew) has begun her very own blog named, Patience Creations and is making these extremely cool vintage purses made from old book covers/pages, and she has begun jewelry making also.You can check out her blog right here.

We had lots of fun thrifting at the local shops here in Beaufort, I have now added books and handles to the thrifty things that I search for, for Liss.

A few days after Matthew left for Federal Agent Academy, Liss was in a car accident and is more interested at the moment in trips to the chiropractor and doctors, and being pain free~ Get well Liss, especially since you are the Birthday girl tomorrow.xoxox

Off to put Hope to bed.

Pottery Earrings To Be

Hey Buddies,

I will finally be getting back to carving today with the Santa season approaching, snowman season too.

I wanted to share with you some mini pottery pieces that will be earrings in the near future.

I glazed them with my favorite "Floating Blue" glaze that sometimes comes out more blue, and other times more brown, and sometimes well, it sides right off and sticks to the kiln shelves which makes Trevor our instructor say really bad things:) but only the kiln will know.

I am showing of my royal blue earrings to be, right here, and perhaps a pottery bird or two.
